I really didn’t want to leave this review, but my experience in January with Okanagan Skin Care (partner of Dermapure) has caused enough of a psychological impact by this point that I think it’s worth giving the vulnerable consumer a heads up.

I wanted a bit of a pick me up for my skin. I decided Thermage for face would be a good avenue to try. I got a consult, I will say firstly that the facility and staff are very nice. Nice unfortunately does not change the fact that this is a business that will lean to put revenue above patient needs. I went in there asking for face, and they suggested I do my eyes too because they were “starting to come down” (unsolicited opinion from the technician). Thermage doesn’t fix structural issues like this, it just tightens skin. Also I had no problem with my eyes at that point, they were settling a bit but at least they were settling in perfect arches which is natural looking. My favourite feature actually. I called ahead of time to voice my concerns about fat atrophy and they reassured me not to go online and read about that. They said it doesn’t go deep enough to atrophy fat, it all depends on the technician, and that they had a lot of experience. So I got my face and eyes done. My fault yeah, but it has been 4 months and I’ve seen no real changes in my face. Although my neck blistered quite heavily after which I knew could happen. The distressing thing is what it did to my eyes. Within two days ( I took a picture in office before I got it done) my eyelids started to crepe and droop. They have less fat in them than before. They settle crooked now. I am about to get married and don’t want close ups taken now. I’ve got a blepharoplasty consult booked; probably years before I would have otherwise needed it. I loved my eyes before despite the signs of aging. Now I don’t feel good at all and it was a lot of money to boot. Money I used in hopes to build confidence. Not deplete it.
I know they didn’t mean it, but when they saw I was willing to pay, the technicians eyes did light up like they were seeing a shiny meal ticket. I got a weird feeling in my gut. Intuition I know now. My agreeableness and confidence issues made me vulnerable. So be sure.
That all being said, I can see this procedure helping tighten skin in older patients who already have lost most of their facial fat via skin tightening. For me it melted fat I can’t get back and added on years. They told me the procedure doesn’t go deep enough to atrophy fat but eyelid skin is so thin that I think it happened. I’m pretty bummed out when I look in the mirror. If you have fat in your eyelid/brow area just avoid this procedure. Honestly polynucleotides have done way more for me and are cheaper, they also don’t run the risk of melting your youthful fat away so try that instead! I’ll include before and afters.
