My husband had cataract surgery done by Dr. Hassard. One in September and one in October. The office visits were prompt and professional. Both surgeries were very successful. My husband was hesitant to have surgery but is now thrilled with the results. There was next to no wait time and we were both put at ease by our office visits. Dr. Hassard and his assistant were a pleasure to deal with. The instructions for post op were very clear and made it easy to keep up the after care.

He removed cataracts on both of my eyes, no pain and I can see without glasses.
If you have cataracts, I highly recommend him.

I had cataract surgery which went south. I traveled to Cobourg several times to get some answers only to be told by Dr Hassard "I'm a damaged child and can't help you anymore". I've since been to two surgeons, one in Belleville who performed several exams only to refer me to another surgeon in Kingston. The results from extensive examinations are two surgeries to correct the mess that Dr. HASSARD left me with only to be told it may not be successful. Not only did Dr Hassard not tell me that there were complications when he did the surgery but the lens he put in is questionable. And yes his office is disgustingly filthy.

my mom just had 2 eyes done for cataracts by this chop shop. was upsold on the laser measurements and told that she would have 98% perfect lenses and would not need glasses when she was done. She was scammed out of $200 per eye. After the last surgery she was told that she would need glasses as she has an astigmatism and glaucoma. If they had said that the extra money was a waste, she would have had the measurements done according to the OHIP plan.

This office preys on pensioners and runs them through like a factory assembly line. The receptionist is rude and belittling. She was abrupt and dismissive of my mother's concerns. Extremely unprofessional.

If you care at all for your loved ones or your eyes, stay far away from this place unless you like to be swindled. Just disgusting.

As others have stated, the office was a mess. Totally inappropriate for a medical facility. Especially during a pandemic. The assistant just grabbed me and cranked my head back barely saying hello and put in drops. It was very rough. I have neck problems. And allergies. I do not accept food or drugs in me without consultation first. Then I was thrown into his office. The doctor was extremely obtuse. There were used packages ( more than 20), bottles, books and papers on every dusty surface. Machines were not clean and the place did not smell fresh. What followed was an inane exchange the went like this:
Me: I have allergies so we are going to have to talk if you are putting anything else in my eyes.
Him: I’m not an allergist!
Me:I know, but let me know if you are putting anything else in or on me.
Him: If you want allergy testing we can’t do that here.
And it went on. He concluded that my issue had nothing to do with the eye itself and since my symptoms are debilitating, I asked where I go from here. Should I see a neurologist? Could he refer me? He didn’t answer and rushed me out. So much so that he ended up running down the street after me because he had forgotten a test, which he performed in the street. I left wondering if the man is insane or on drugs. They are certainly taking advantage of a mainly senior clientele that tend not to question or follow up on abuse. The rush is terrifying. I would never trust them for a major procedure. I had no satisfaction following up with the optometrist. She would not hear me out.

I had cataract surgery performed on my right eye by Dr. Hassard on 27 March 2021. I am giving 5 stars as I have nothing or nobody to compare the procedure with, having had the surgery the one time. My five stars are based on my ability to see with my right eye after the surgery compared to not being able to use my eye prior to the procedure. I found no fault with the way I was treated as a patient. I was examined by Dr. Hassard who confirmed I needed cataract surgery and explained in a concise and forthright manner the basic procedure.
I was scheduled for the procedure to be performed on my left eye, unfortunately it had to be delayed because of covid19. My advice and recommendation for anyone who suffers from a cataract condition and is offered the services by Dr. Hassard, accept his services. You will not be disappointed. I am so looking forward to the procedure being performed by Dr. Hassard on my left eye.

I believe the surgery went well. However, there were no follow up appointments offered. I had both eyes done (cataract surgery) in May, 2022. I was offered no follow up appointments for either surgery which seems to be in stark contrast from people I have since talked to with other surgeons. A week after the first surgery I received a call from Dr. Hassard’s very efficient receptionist, Tammy, to see how things were going. One week after the second surgery I did receive a call from Dr. .Hassard who asked the same. At that time I questioned why I had not been offered the mutifocal lens (since my up close vision had become so much worse) and why no one told me this would happen. In short, if I had another chance I would choose a doctor who had follow up appointments. From the time of my first appointment with Dr. Hassard I felt nothing more than a number. I deserve more.

I was sent by a Dr in emerg to see Dr Hassard, for a problem with my eyes. I drove for over an hour to get there, and was in his office for 10 minutes. The receptionist was disgusting and so was the office. Open bottles of eye drops and stuff shelter, shelter all over the place. The whole thing was filthy. The girl checked my eyes by reading the three large lines on the chart and did the pressure test. The Dr came in and said I had 20,20 vision. I already had glasses, and the optometrist, gave me a prescription for an upgrade so how can I have 20,20 vision. He raised my upper lid and lower lid said the ducts were all plugged i ,ahh
