Ravensview changed my life. It wasn’t easy being away from my family but the staff and friends quickly became my new family.

My primary physician was incredible and put in a lot of time and effort into helping me get better. You could tell he really cares about his patients.

So thankful I made the decision to go out here. I learned so many new tools and dig deep into what’s important in my life.

Seriously changed my life! Thank you!

My experience as a client was excellent. The care and clinical treatment are maintained at the highest standards. The food, the facilities, the room and the staff were all amazing. The program was thoughtfully designed and delivered. Staff in all departments, both clinical and support, work as a team. I felt held in all regards. Safe to heal.

I can see how this place is helpful for lots of people, especially veterans and first responders, but if you're a young woman I would not suggest this place for you.

My psychiatrist was terrible. I was experiencing symptoms of psychosis and the dr told me it was because I was a teenage girl. I was constantly dismissed for my concerns. He gave a prescription for an antipsychotic only days before my discharge so I had no time to get used to the meds before going back to the real world. There was no follow up.

Another client, an older man, began pursuing me and none of the staff seemed to be concerned despite the relationship being extremely inappropriate. I was too young at the time to realize I was being taken advantage of and looking back it's a shame the staff didn't at least try to put a stop to it. Affairs were common among clients.

I also witnessed sexual harassment on multiple occasions and the men doing it never got reprimanded. Staff minimized the experiences of the women who got harassed which is abhorrent considering many of us were there for ptsd related to abuse. Being harassed is extremely triggering, and being dismissed by staff who are supposed to be helping us overcome trauma is just the cherry on top.

It was also common for clients to hide drugs, cigarettes and booze in the woods.

It's basically summer camp for adults. The classes were extremely surface level. You don't get enough one on one time with your therapist. You're better off just finding a good therapist than coming here.

I came to Ravensview Homewood “Victoria” due to my addiction with Drugs & Alcohol, from the moment I walked through the doors I was greeted with kindness & respect.
The intake staff made me feel at home as well as settling my nerves about admitting is was there because I needed help.

My first week was awkward as I adjusted to the daily routines of Eating, programming, eating, programming & eating again with
1 on 1 therapy sessions sprinkled in however after my first rec therapy session with Ronnie
I finally was able to relax… Ronnie’s approach to treatment & life after treatment was exactly the real world approach that to this day resonates to me in the most meaningful way.. His words became the motivation I needed to find my authentic self, to be honest & vulnerable while working through the pain, shame & guilt I had been experiencing.
Ronnie connected with myself & others through his own experiences as well struggles in an emotional, authentic non clinical environment that truly made all the difference that first week…
To say “thank you” Ronnie, simply does not describe the impact you had while instilling courage to seek out the small wins everyday, every week, every month..they will start to pile up & before you know it things will get better & they did…with they support of all the other nursing staff, PT staff & others I was able to understand more about myself in 6 weeks than I had in 45 yrs of living.

I would whole heartedly recommend Ravensview Homewood to any & all that decide that enough is enough & take the first step towards help & healing!

Nursing staff is incompetent, wrong medications were issued to many clients including myself many times. They actually ordered the wrong medication from their pharmacy and I had to wait over a week to get back on my correct medication. The nursing station has no privacy so all other clients know exactly what you are taking.

They do not mediate between clients. I witnessed many times police officers in the guardian program talking about wanting to beat up the only African American boy that was there at the time.

I also arrived shortly after one of their clients ended their life.

I witnessed people having seizures on the stairs in hallways etc.

There was an old retired airforce veteran sexually harassing the women including myself and staff refused to intervene.

They let you go wandering on mount Douglas whenever you want but with no phone gps, I once got so lost I walked over six hours and had to hitch hike back to the building.

My discharge report, while they nailed my diagnosis, was riddled with inaccuracies in my narrative and outright lies about my behavior in the program in order for them to appear better than they are, which is an abhorrent betrayal considering there is no one to advocate for the clients in there and tell the true story.

Their head nurse is going blind. We all got to hear about this daily it was ridiculous to have to listen to the head nurse whine daily to a group of deeply traumatized first responders and military members. I imagine her blindness also contributed to the nursing staffs total apathy and incompetence.

Don’t waste your money, they are not what their website purports them to be. I left very much worse than when I went in.

Would give zero stars if I could.

Irrefutably one of the best in patient centres our there. The staff is incredibly warm and caring to each client's specific issues. When the work gets hard they gently support you through the process in a safe manner. The therapists, medical team and support staff will listen to you, always. No judgement here, just a safe, beautiful , serene centre to begin on one of the best journeys of your life, no matter how old or young or the extent of your addiction and trauma. Highly recommended!

Ravensview was an excellent experience. The staff were very kind and knowledgable. The location of the facility and surrounding nature was very beneficial to treatment. The food and kitchen staff are amazing. I will always be grateful to Ravensview for helping on my treatment path.

Don’t come here. It is horribly expensive and overpriced for the programming you receive. The staff are kind, but many mistakes were made and the overall skill set was lacking. They take a very relaxed approach to rules being broken and situations where other clients become agitated and violent. Many clients participated in affairs and it was common for clients to retrieve drugs planted in the publicly accessible forest surrounding the property.

The environment Ravensview constructs is very egocentric and detached, which in theory makes sense for healing. The contrast from staying at Ravensview and returning to the stressors of your life is astronomical. It feels lonely, overwhelming, and magnifies every problem you had prior to admission significantly. Out of all the people I met during my stay who have now discharged; only one or two are doing well. Many relationships have crumbled, people have relapsed or their condition has significantly worsened.

Ravensview doesn’t do a good enough job preparing people for discharge and the realities of how difficult it can be. You are forced to be vulnerable and make intense connections with others, which feels great at the time. You rarely have your phone, so you take time to really get to know people. If you are lonely, there are always many people to connect with. That environment, vulnerability and intensity doesn’t carry over to your relationships back home. Clients often joked that Ravensview is an adult summer camp to make you realize how unbearable your life is back home that you have no choice but to change things.

I was told I had to attend a 3 week assessment at the sister facility in Guelph before coming to Ravensview. I did the 3 weeks and it was a horrible experience; I held off a year before finding the courage to return to a Homewood facility. During my discharge meeting at Ravensview, it was discovered no information from that 3 week assessment had been forwarded to Ravensview due to a clerical error. This made Guelph a giant waste of time and money. Ravensview also had misplaced any prior health information and assessments, so they were operating from scratch the entirety I was there. They did not communicate this to me or my insurance team back home until the final week discharge meeting. This confused the clinical picture and created a spinning in the mud scenario. Ravensview is very expensive and is a huge time commitment away from your life; so this was incredibly disappointing. They recommended things would need to be ironed out within the community once I was home; defeating the purpose of doing inpatient ptsd treatment.
