I've been going to this eye clinic since moving to Langford over 20 years ago, and before that, I went to its sister clinic in Sooke. I have had only kind, personable and efficient service and expertise from all the people in these offices, from the owners, the optometrists, the front desk staff, the technicians and everyone in between.

Today I goofed and arrived late for an emergency appointment. Patti, the front desk staffer, was still so helpful and spoke to Dr. Hehl about squeezing me in because I was in a bit of a desperate spot with my vision, even though the fault for the missed appointment was all on me. Thank you, Patti & Dr. Hehl!

This clinic has become more important to me as the years go on and I experience more health 'adventures.' I appreciate the in-office technology that once was only available through hospital/VIHA services. It's great to be able to know right away if there's a disaster looming, or if all will be well.

I feel the need to share an experience I had at this clinic as a warning to others.

Last Thursday, my eyes became red and irritated. On Friday morning I looked for an eye doctor and found this clinic was open the earliest and had good hours and reviews. I called them when they opened and the receptionist seemed concerned and fit me in the same day with their eye doctor. I was very thankful.

At my appointment, I explained to the eye doctor that my symptoms were light sensitivity, blurred vision/some vision loss, red eyes (mostly the right) and extreme headache that seemed to sit behind my eyes. I did not have symptoms common to pink eye such as discharge, gritty feeling eyes and had not been recently ill etc. The doctor ran some tests and seemed relatively thorough. She was polite and professional. She told me that I had viral pink eye. I am not overly upset over the misdiagnosis. I think it was a fine guess with how common pink eye is.

My concern is because I was never told that it was possible I did not have pink eye. The eye doctor never told me to seek further treatment if my eyes got worse. She did not say to come back if there was no improvement within a few days. All she said was that it would take 3 weeks to clear up.

If I had waited 3 weeks to seek further medical treatment, I could be blind. I went to the ER on Tuesday because I could no longer open my eyes, could barely see and had to wear glacier glasses just to sit in a dark room without pain. I was referred to a specialist who diagnosed me with iritis.

As it stands, I have scarring in my right eye that is probably permanent but hopefully no vision loss.

If I had been told that I should monitor for more severe symptoms or certain symptoms, I would have attended the ER Saturday and would not have permanent scarring in my eye.

This seems like a very serious mistake and makes me think the eye doctor did not take my vision or health as seriously as she should have.

When I compare the symptoms that I had to Iritis and viral pink eye, it's clear to me that even though it is less common, there was a clear possibility I did not have pink eye.

Anyways I'm just leaving this as a warning to others. If you are having a medical issue with your eyes, I would avoid this clinic. I'm sure they are fine for glasses or vision tests but do not trust them with your eye health.

This is one of those places where you wish you would've gone in the first place, they are amazing and super friendly! Patty and Grace were awesome at the reception and pre-testing. I saw Dr. Krall for my exam and she was really nice and happy to answer any questions I had about my eye conditions. They make you feel welcome and cared for, highly recommend!!

Alysa at Langford Eye Care was so kind and knowledgeable, she helped me feel comfortable in choosing new frames, and could relate to my feelings towards glasses. I've had terrible experiences in the past, The staff was friendly and helpful. I appreciated the time Alysa took to find out if transition lenses were able to be fitted for my new glasses which was so kind, reasonable prices. All in all great experience thank you

My husband has had pink eye for two weeks, and the eye drops we bought from the pharmacy didn't help. We called Langford Eyecare Center today, and they were able to schedule an appointment for us at 2:45 pm. Ms. Cathy at the front desk was very warm and friendly, and she helped us thoroughly with all the registration details. Dr. A. Krall was extremely patient and kind, carefully examining my husband’s condition. When we had difficulty understanding, she used a translator to make sure everything was clear. The clinic is very clean and well-organized, and the staff are all incredibly nice. I highly recommend this clinic—definitely a 10 out of 10 experience!

I brought my 3 year old in for a check up and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Kid friendly and seemed like a nice family practice. Reception was so nice and understanding when I ended up having to reschedule because I didn’t bring my daughters proper medical info.

The appointment was great and the Dr was so good with my child. I was thinking it would be difficult to get her to pay attention but it went so smooth! My daughter said she wants to go everyday 🙂 she got to pick a prize at the end.

All in all great experience!
