OAC was extremely accommodating in having our son assessed. Being from out of town, they worked hard to find a time that worked around our schedule. The psychologists and support staff were compassionate and thorough, and communicated clearly with us. I would recommend OAC to anyone looking for an assessment.

Dr. Andrea Welder was wonderful for our assessment. She was engaging and approachable for our daughter, and very supportive and knowledgeable for us as parents. We were very happy with the outcome of the assessment.

Applied for the wait-list and received a phone call October 2023 for my child to be assessed.
I had requested documents to apply for the variety grant, but never received them. By the time my child's assessment time came the variety grant was no longer accepting applicants. When I explained that we were hoping to access services using the variety grant and could not afford the assessment without funding, and asked if there were other sources for funding, she said no, that she was removing us from the list and hung up without further conversation.
A week ago, I found out that my school aged child could receive funding through the school for an assessment.
I'm absolutely astounded that a professional working in the assessment field would not have made the suggestion that we seek funding from our school after being told that we are a low income family. It was a long wait to get the phone call for an assessment and I have to assume that they work with schools who pay for children to be assessed regularly. Having this information could have helped a lot and we could have had a proper assessment in person.

I would never recommend coming here for an assessment. I can tell you now, years later and after working with brilliant & incredible neuropsychs, OAC completely missed the mark with my kid. I will save the details but if your child is gifted or twice exceptional, seek out a professional who is an expert in gifted/2E. When asked simple questions after receiving a report that didn’t sound at all like my child, Dr Welder was combative and passive aggressive instead of understanding and informative.

Dr Welder and staff were very patient, empathetic, genuine, and thorough. We felt supported and heard when our son was undergoing his assessment process. He was born with Down Syndrome and we have much experience with services similar to OAC. I feel confident in saying that our experience was excellent. I have never seen such a detailed and relevant report with recommendations that are clear and actionable. Thank you Dr Welder!

We were on a waitlist for diagnosis for my youngest son for 2 years in the Fraser Valley before we moved to Kelowna 6 months ago. We finally had our appointment today and got the answers we were looking for. Dr Welder was amazing and went over everything with us

I would not recommend OAC. We were really needing answers for our son to get a proper diagnosis to help him. I was calling and trying to get him into everywhere to be assessed asap. I was desperate for help for my son. I pulled money out of my TFSA to pay for this assessment at OAC, and I would never recommend someone to come here. We were treated like a fee. When we were getting our assessment results we were passed off so quickly to get answers. I had to tell them my son hadn’t even gotten his ADHD assessment yet we were waiting to get that from them from this assessment. Frankly, I deserve some of my money back the care here was terrible, we were pushed off and felt like another dollar to them.
