I am currently dying. I've had sepsis for 8 days over 2 hospitals. Nanaimo now powell river. I am currently going into septic shock and the nurse doing blood work at both hospitals have impaled my arms and wiggled them around in my veins. I'm shock white, blood is poolingincmy hands and my finger tips are purple.

I decided to go out on my own terms and have left the hospital. I have not been well for many days and I believe I am about to die tonight

Aug 29th 2024 - so they decide to respond with the website that just tells you to call a number or leave an email and why they can't just put that in their response instead of adding an extra step just shows me their intelligence.

Aug 21st 2024 - Talk about a stupid place to try and get medical services. Not only do you get to sit in the waiting room for 5 hours, see a doctor get told you're going to get a shot and then wait over an hour and still not get it, but the idiots won't even allow you to provide your doctor requisition for blood work by email contrary to VGH or St. Paul's or Mount St. Joseph's, they expect you to have it printed for them because, "they shouldn't have to use their printers." I don't care if I will be dead dead before I get there but I never want to see this hospital again because they're too stupid to do their job. I couldn't even get shots for syphilis because a doctor needs to sign off on it supposedly, but I went all the way down to Vancouver 4 days later. Didn't have to see a doctor and got my shots. Thanks you lazy healthcare workers.

Dr.Head is the only Dr. here with integrity the others I've been assigned violate ethics at any turn. I've heard the new ER Dr. Is decent also but am not in a rush to find out. All the nurses are great except the 1 who yells at patients for crying. I get it's a tough job but it's likely much tougher being the patient. Worst part is not 1 person knows ASL making it even tougher on the hearing and or verbally divergent.

My grandmother has been there for 5 days now. In lots of pain, unable to walk, possibly a broken elbow as well, and they still haven’t run any tests!
This is unacceptable!! She spend 2 days in the hallway of emergency, and is now in a room with basically no care.

Update: been a week and still nothing. She’s still there. Been getting different stories from different people working there. One person says she recieved the CT scan and another saying she didn’t…

I’m actually from Vancouver but I was in Powell river for the weekend visiting family and I broke my arm. I have to say this was the best hospital experience I’ve had. Things moved very quickly, the staff were so nice, checking up on me constantly and bringing me warm blankets. I had a great doctor. Definitely glad I broke my wrist in Powell river and not in the city where this could’ve taken all day and I would’ve never been treated this well. Thank you to all of the staff that were on shift the morning/ afternoon of Saturday, June 11.

I just had day surgery here, and my experience wasn't great but
The hand full of nurses and anesthesiologist I met with were kind.
I was put under and after being woken up I don't recall getting dressed or who I spoke to about after care but I wasn't able to stand or speak without slurring my words.
I got wheel chaired out to the parking lot and left there. I still had monitoring stickers on my chest
I'm lucky my ride saw me stumbling to stand and helped me into the car.
No follow up from anyone.

It's a small town hospital. Of course it's not perfect. The nurses were great every time I had to take my daughter in for an appointment or if I had to take my other daughter into emergency. The Dr's were kind and not just trying to rush us out. I have lived here for the last 3 years and coming from Cloverdale, where the closest hospitals are Surrey or Langley Memorial trust me this place is a treat!!

Firstly..every place can be hit or miss, depending on who is on shift. Just like at restaurants. Secondly the staff in emergency is overworked but still try there best to be kind and understanding, even when people or cercomstances make it dificult. They deserve praise for how hard they work while trying to keep a positive attitude. It is not easy, especially when they see how difficult it is for those who come in suffering. All day, every day. Thank you to all for your efforts. And for not ever treating me like I am less than, just because of my prescriptions.
