For those who may not know, Southwood Medical in the Driftwood Mall in Courtenay, BC is closing their doors at the end of 2024.....due to the owner (retiring doctor) leaving only one doctor until the end of 2024. As that doctor cannot find space within the Comox Valley she will have no choice but to close as well. This leaves the MOA's (Admin Staff) without a job going forward. If any doctors office in the Comox Valley has an open space for this wonderful doctor, please contact Southwood Medical well before the end of Dec 2024 in hopes of securing a spot for her to continue along with the remaining MOA's.......thank you for reading this......

Receptionist is extremely rude. Talks to you as if its an inconvenience to book an appointment. If you have any questions she acts like it's the dumbest thing she's ever heard. Never have I experience such bad customer interaction. I'm not the first one to experience this either, many in the valley would prefer to sit at Walmart for 3 hours than have to have a 30 second interaction with her. You can never book an over the phone appointment unless you call constantly until they pick up which has taken me up to hour sometimes. They say this is because "it's constantly ringing for appointments" . While sitting in the clinic waiting I haven't heard the phone ring once. Why on earth she's in customer service when she clearly hates people is beyond me.

Clinic and staff are fine, but they are very hard to get ahold of. Takes multiple tries to get through to book at appt and I have been trying to call to cancel my appt for Monday morning and have not gotten anyone. They are now closed all weekend so I will have to call when they open (half hour before my appt) to tell them I'm not coming, all because there's no voicemail. Seems unfortunate that someone else can't have my time slot. Maybe they should look at a voicemail or online booking system if they are too busy in house to answer the phone. Or another staff?

Previous experience was amazing.
About 5 years ago, the demeanour of the doctor changed completely. No care, no call backs results for testing, rude during phone appointments, requested referral for ongoing issues, said they would send it in, but never did, etc. 1/10
The ladies that work the front are awesome. 10/10

Absolutely horrible! No one ever answers the phone. The receptionists are extremely rude as well as Dr Ganiyu. Zero bed side manner, dismissive, neglects to follow up and can be very spiteful. No listening skills, compassion or interest in medical issues. He totally passes the buck to other doctors and specialists. Beware if you are looking for a GP, you're better off to go to a walk in clinic!

Whoever answers the phone can be abrupt, rude and unprofessional. I wouldn’t write this if it was a one time thing but it’s often. Maybe she does a good MOA job but I’d rather she move along if she dislikes dealing with patients who have no choice but to call in and have to put up with her poor bedside manner.

The office only seems to take calls about 10% of the time and only before lunch. They don't have an answering machine that takes messages. I have a doctor that is soft spoken and I am hard of hearing so I can't understand about half of what he says to me. I tell him to please speak louder and slower but he gets so frustrated that he has to leave the room. It has come to the point where I have asked for a different doctor but that didn't happen. I even had a doctor interpret for me but that didn't last. I understand it's not his fault but I can't understand his dialect.

Is it even a medical clinic? It's been a long time around 2 years, no one receives the phone call, they don't answer if you knock on the door, if by chance the receptionist answers the call and schedule you for only phone appointment, the Dr never calls back?
Not sure what's happening and when will someone take action against the clinic for playing games with patients leaving them unheard unseen?
