Fantastic service, fabulous caring staff on all levels. As a visitor from overseas, my overnight admission was dealt with compassion, professionalism and reassurance. Many thanks for the care I received in September 2024 A hospital to be very proud of Tofino. Dr Foerster is lovely.

God bless the staff here, we are so lucky to have such caring folks take care of our small town. They are usually under staffed and have a very old facility and yet they show up and do amazing work every day. Thank you Tofino General Hospital for all you do, literally life savers.

I had the unfortunate experience of a nasty fall on the rocks at Hot Springs Cove — face-planted on a boulder, and suffered a possible broken nose(still too swollen to know), split lip, broken wrist and sprained ankle.

The ambulance met us at the docks, and were reassuring and gentle and got me to the hospital ASAP.

The ER staff received me quickly and got me settled. I was impressed with the nurses — Ray and Beth, the radiologist— Trina, and so thankful that Dr. Foerster set my broken wrist (guiding the resident Dr whose name I forgot) and cast it perfectly.

I saw an orthopaedic surgeon today — five days later and got more x-rays and he said that it was PERFECT and I would not need surgery and it should heal well. (He also told me that is not always the case, as some ERs just get it close enough, which may then have resulted in surgery.)

KUDOS to the ER team at Tofino!

I felt respected and taken care of and happy to be on my road to healing after such a great experience there.

Oct 2024 - Level of efficiency and care by all, triage, diagnosis to treatment are 5 star. Special thanks to Nurse Mika and Dr George!
We in BC are fortunate to have this level of care and knowledge.

If there was a possibility of 0 stars. This hospital deserves it. I visited the ER in the worst pain of my life. I told the physician and nurse I felt like I was having labor pains, they advised that I probably had food poisoning. They tested my urine, which was barely any and completely brown to say I had no infection. The next day, I was admitted to the hospital in the US and had a severe infection, almost had sepsis, and was hospitalized for a week. 2 months later, island health is charging my card for things saying I signed something giving permission. Absolutely outrageous. The doctor obviously has no experience and I’m lucky to be alive to write this review. If you have anything serious, do not bother visiting this third world like hospital.

I went in to the ER today to have my self checked. I had the finest experience with service and the staff. The nurse, Spencer, was very accommodating and making sure I am comfortable. She was very concerned and even so kind to offer me water and snacks. Arman (not sure if i got his name right, but he’s the guy that took my blood sample), was very friendly and has the lightest hand. I didn’t even noticed he’s done taking 5 tubes of my blood for samples. And the doctor, Dr. George, was very professional and made sure to explain well what was going on in my situation. Service was a bit slow, but I understand there’s a bunch of other patients they’d have to deal with, too. And hey, I got a tuna sandwich so as the whole experience wasn’t so bad being in the Emergency room.

I've come in the the E.R to get my lungs and chest checked cause i was having sharp pains and breathing hurt. The doctor told me he worked in Vancouver E.R and has seen much worst cases and that I should not be in the E.R cause my pain wasn't bad enough for him. And discharged me. The only thing he did was look at my ribs and asked if I do drugs or drink alot. I told him no then he said you should make a doctor's appointment Trent for this and sent me on my way.

This was one of the worst experiences of my life.. They almost killed my wife. Then on the credit card we used to pay they made fraudulent charges on it 2 months later.. (we paid in full). Just got of the phone with my banks fraud dept. Thank God we didn’t listen to the Tofino Dr and nurses who said she had food poisoning and had nothing to worry about and drove/ferried for 10 hours straight to a US hospital where she was admitted immediately and stayed for 6 days. If we would have listened to Tofino hospital advise she would be dead. They may be ok for bumps and bruises but I’m now scared as hell of the Canadian health care system as it the worst I’ve ever seen in all of international travels. One star is too many, I give it zero stars.
