I stopped in to get some temporary contacts as I'm currently visiting family in Tsawwasen, and the ladies at Tsawwassen Optometry clinic were more than helpful! They gave me the samples that they had in my prescription free of charge! I would definitely recommend this clinic! 10/10

2025 Update: My optometrist Dr Kirby, has been extremely accommodating and on top of my vision situation since my retinal detachment. Dr Kirby always was and continues to be very professional, knowledgeable and quick to act. There is also new equipment at this clinic that can showcase high resolution imagery for retinal issues and more. Even though I had an unfortunate incident I do recommended this clinic.

2023: I’ve used this clinic for a few years and overall the experience is a positive one so this review is not a “stay away” complaint but in general always go with your instincts in any health related matter. The day I went into the clinic my optometrist, Dr Kirby was not available so another colleague did my assessment. When I filled out the pre assessment form I didn’t check the “have you had a recent head injury” so I mentioned to the Dr I did in fact have a head injury over a year ago. The Dr. said that was a long time ago and had no concern. During my visit I was very specific to describe an immediate event that occurred in my right eye with a sudden amount of defined black dots and hundreds upon hundreds of flecks floating in my vision combined with a blurry fog developing across my entire vision field. Most know what standard floaters are and this was definitely not a normal floater incident. I was asked if light flashes were also happening but in my case this was not occurring. After what seemed like a thorough exam and brief discussion about my head injury along with my concern if this was stress related the Dr was very adamant this was not to be a concern and the issue was simply age related. Having strong vision my entire life and still in my 40’s, I left the clinic feeling like something wasn’t right. My instinct was I should get another opinion. A week went by and my vision slowly became worse. At this point, the appearance of a black gel was forming along the perimeter of my vision.

I booked an appt with another optometrist out of town who also specialized in head trauma related vision issues. This exam was much more detailed and was twice as long due to the symptoms I explained. The consensus was the initial explosion of black dots in my vision was actually my retina in the process of detaching. My retina may have been loosened 1.5 years earlier from a serious blow to the head. By the time I went in for this second opinion the retina was tearing so badly I was admitted for immediate surgery. After discussions with eye professionals and learning more about eye health my initial symptoms were textbook retinal detachment.

Because the explosion of black dots suddenly floating in my vision was not combined with strobing or flashing I felt the issue was not taken as seriously and thoroughly analyzed close enough at Tsawwassen Optometry. The diagnosis of “you are just getting older” felt misguided and weak based on my symptoms. During this review I’m in recovery and came very close to losing my vision, but thankful I took further action after my initial visit to Tsawwassen Optometry. The learning in my case is always go with your instinct and get a second opinion if necessary.

Suzette and Dr. Wong were wonderful with my immode treatment for dry eyes. There were four sessions and after each treatment there was noticeable improvement. My eyes are feeling so much better. I do not feel the grittiness I had been experiencing. Wind is less bothersome. The oils in my eyes are now clear and not cloudy. The sessions themselves can be somewhat uncomfortable but so worth it to have the improvement with my vision. My eyesight is important to me as I have lost so much of my hearing and wear hearing aids. Thank you Dr. Wong and Suzette.

Amy and Franchesica are super friendly and helpful definitely recommend going here. Forgot my contacts at home 14hrs away so came here and within minutes I had my new ones even if i wasn't there patient so if you are looking for an optometrist in Tsawwassen area this is definitely the one for you.

Very thorough eye exam. I felt like Dr. Kirby addressed everything relevant to my eyes without me even asking. Exam was fully covered by my insurance.
Jim and Ayleen were very helpful in selecting new glasses and turn around time was amazing. Large selection of frames to choose from. Entire experience was terrific.

The receptionist made an error with my prescription - it cost me 240$ in a contact lens order that is now useless to me. They can admit they made a mistake but did nothing to fix it and aren't willing to offer anything more than an invitation for another eye exam. Bottome line - you can do better.

Dr. Eva Wong is fantastic and so are her staff. Francesca and Ayleen were both kind and welcoming. Thorough exam albeit a bit pricey. If you’re in the area and need a good optometrist, look no further! Great selection of glasses too, for those who require wearing them.
