We are so pleased that we chose Cedarworks. We needed to replace an old fence at the front of our house. As such, we wanted something that would keep the deer out but not be an uninviting wall. Wayne is very talented and produced a beautiful, unique fence and gate with great aesthetic appeal. He sources excellent materials that are structurally strong and durable. This has really enhanced our house and yard and the cost was inline with other quotes we got.

Wayne built us a fence in the spring of 2025. He lent his expertise with the design and layout, patiently guiding us through what was practical for the site. We had an arbutus tree with exposed roots that Wayne jogged around with a split rail, a lovely design solution to a potential problem.

The first thing we noticed was that he sourced the highest quality materials he could get his hands on, and did not compromise. The wood, post saddles, and even the fasteners were high quality and it made a difference. Everything looks and feels premium.

Once Wayne started building the fence, we knew right away it was going to be special. No detail was too small or insignificant: even the concrete footings for the posts were tidy and shaped beautifully.

What we really appreciated was that Wayne communicated well.
He kept us involved and gave us input along the way. Whenever we had options, we felt that Wayne really thought about it and presented both sides before seeking our instructions.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with the finished product. The fence compliments our house well, and we felt it was worth every penny.

Working with Wayne and Urban Cedarworks was a great experience. Our garden fence turned out gorgeous and super effective at keeping out all of our pesky rabbits. It was a big, tough job because I asked that a portion of the fence be buried to keep rabbits from digging under, and I got exactly what I asked for. We had Wayne build a grape stake fence for us ten years ago and we were so pleased with the results! The work was meticulous and the natural cedar has aged beautifully. When we needed to replace some old rail fencing on our property this winter, Wayne was the only and the obvious choice for us. The new fence is equally pleasing and appropriate for the property.

Urban Cedarworks has just completed a fence "move" of the original 3-year old fence that Urban Cedarworks built for us, which was beautiful, but we needed to move one side further out to divide our townhouse back yard more accurately with the adjoining one -- the original fence had been built by Urban Cedarworks to an old prior fence footprint which was not at the dividing line between the townhouses but too far inward towards our patio... The fence was skilfully adapted to the new location with a combination of "moving" and rebuilding a new panel or two, plus a really nice gate installed, all of West Coast cedar. Working with this company is a pleasure, and their work is beautiful as you will see on the webpage... Photo below shows our new gate and repositioned fence, new as of October 2017; it looks a bit blotchy owing to the rain on new wood as we did not have time to use a protective stain for the wood before the rainy season, as we had one already applied to the older portion and that stain requires a dry period to be applied. Added photo taken in sunny weather. Next summer for staining.
