Went into emergency after being told to over the phone for severe sleep deprivation then front desk lady got mad at me and told me to get out after I said I had to leave or I was going to pass out. I even apologized in a soft voice but she just looked at me and pointed to the exit. Waited four hours before leaving. Never felt so vulnerable when seeking help. Also sorry I couldn't remember much about why I was in pain and couldn't sleep. Maybe being awake for over 48 hours caused it.

I have been treated at this hospital in several occasions due to different studies and medical procedures and I've been always treated very well. Doctors and nurses were kind and knowledgeable. I am very thankful to all of them for the work they are doing.

It’s pretty bad that you can’t move out of the town houses that are right behind Saint Joe’s by the staff parking lot without having the staff yell obscenities at you even though you have a work order and you’re legally allowed to park there. Really poor look on the staff of Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

I went to St Joe's on 02/27/24 to see about a potential fracture of my left wrist due to a fall. The triage nurse was dismissive and and trying to push me through because it was busy. After approximately 6 hours I was brought inside and Nurse Practitioner Nathleen A Obenson came into my cubicle and asked about my injury and asked me to show movement of wrist. She then sent me for an X-ray . When I was leaving x-ray the technician told me not to be alarmed but I might be sent back for further radiographs showing different views checking scaphoid bone.
Came back to emergency and Ms Obenson informed me that there were no fractures. I asked her what was next and technician indicated I was going to be put in a splint. I asked Ms Obenson for how long and she said 5 days. I mentioned what the technician in the X-ray said about coming back for more radiographs for scaphoid. Ms Obenson got agitated and told me that she knows what the scaphoid bone is . I assured her I knew she did but that wasn't what I asked. She walked away. I was put in a splint and wasn't given any further instruction including no follow up.
After 4 weeks my wrist was still very painful and some edema remained. I decided to return to emergency however this time I went to Regional as I did not want to take the chance of having Nathleen Obenson be in charge of my care. Went to the Regional emergency on 03/23 and had top notch care right from all nursing staff, Dr French, x-ray staff etc. Had X-rays done and after going 4 weeks since my injury it was determined that I had a displaced fracture in a bone of my forearm. Due to misdiagnosis and no follow up care provided by Nathleen Obenson, I required surgery to rebreak the bone and plates and screws put in to realign it.
I want to make it clear, I have no issues with nurse practitioners in any way. However, I don't feel that Nathleen Obenson should be working in emergency medicine. Her demeanor that day showing agitation and aggressive tone demonstrated to me that she was overwhelmed and in my case resulted in possibly unnecessary surgery. I would recommend if Nathleen Obenson is ever put in charge of your care, that you request another health care practioner

This hospitals staff is excellent! Patients are treated with kindness & respect. This hospitals cleanliness is far superior to its sister hospital (SJ Regional)....Hats off to ALL the staff at the St. Joseph's for maintaining a clean & professional & inviting atmosphere for those who have to visit!

Sadly, Saint Joseph's has serious issues which affects its level of care. I feel guilty about seeking care since I am a relatively healthy person. I waited for 5 days, but a back spasm made it so I could barely walk, so I went to Saint Joes out of desperation. The wait time was pretty good, only about an hour. The doctor asked me to get out of bed, told me to "Google back exercises," then left without examining me or referring me to any other service (PT, chiro, massage, etc.). I think our total interaction was roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds. This is not an exaggeration. Perhaps it was because I'm in fairly good shape, so he took a "he'll get over it" attitude. Four weeks later, I'm still dealing with the pain, although it has abated slowly. Rather than dispensing professional advice, he sent me to a place where I could have easily taken extremely bad advice and made the issue worse. Saint Joes not only didn't help me, it potentially harmed me. I don't blame the institution for the incompetence of a single overworked or disengaged individual, however, this reveals a serious administrative problem. It's apparent that the institution isn't adequately supporting and monitoring staff performance. The result is the loss of support from one community member for charity, donation, or political engagement. It doesn't seem like much, but it stacks up.

Came to get checked because of a very very sore throat and stuffed nose and doctors and staff are talking about wages, frying pans, and their vacation. Not impressed.

Had a great experience. The staff were efficient and friendly. I went on a Saturday morning on a weekend when ALL after-hours clinics in SJ, Moncton, and Fredricton were ALL closed for the whole weekend.
SJ is lucky to have the Urgent Care Centre at St. Joe's, and not have to deal with having to go to the full fledged ER at the Regional for a non emergency.
