I've gone to this place a few times because of their prices on Groupon, and each time I question why I have returned. After the last appointment I had, I will Never go back. They have no idea how to remove shellac polish properly and DESTROYED my nails. I used to have beautiful, long and strong nails and now they are flimsy and keep breaking due to the damage they caused during the removal.
Clearly they need to take some lessons or something.

I'm disappointed that i even have to give this 1 star. highly suggest you do not purchase a groupon from this place. I found it incredibly difficult from the moment i purchased mine. firstly, when you call the number, it goes right to voicemail. you're asked to book your appointment through text or email and nobody got back to me for 2 days. secondly, upon booking an appointment, you are required to leave a credit card number otherwise no appointment is made. next availabilty is 2 months from now for a manicure. I never got to speak to someone directly, so i wasn't comfortable leaving a credit card number over text/email so she advised me to come by and leave my CC number with the front receptionist. I walked to the salon, lights off, doors locked, and no receptionist. I phoned the number, no answer, but she texts me right after saying that she can't speak on the phone. i asked her why it was difficult to book a manicure, and am very disappointed with how this situation was handled. She asked to request a refund through groupon as she didn't want to take me in as a client. very unprofessional way of running a business.

I have literally just walked away from getting a shellac manicure at Illumin8, and I will tell you I am thoroughly impressed...

Several months ago, I purchased an Illumin8 Groupon but had a very difficult time booking an appointment. Worried that I had purchased a Groupon "dud", I went online to do a bit of research and read the Google and Yelp reviews... not good. Determined not to lose my money, I persevered and after some back-and-forth, I was finally able book an appointment several weeks into the future.

As I walked into the appointment today, I was prepared to experience bad service, minimal colour choices, old product and walk away with a sub-par manicure. In other words, I was prepared to be disappointed.

Boy was I wrong!

Illumin8 is based out of a bright and clean studio in North Vancouver called Jardin Beauty Studio. But Illumin8 is actually "one woman show". She books up because she's talented, uses quality product and really knows her stuff. The number of colours I had to choose from were more than I've ever seen at some of the larger salons and this is one of the best shellac manicures I've ever had.

I went today because I wanted to walk away and have a definitive answer to the bad Google Reviews. I have that answer... this was a wonderful experience. I would recommend Illumin8 and am looking forward to going back in the very near future.

I hate having to give Illumin8 a star at all!!!!!!!! I made the mistake of telling her my expiry date on my groupon and funny how she had no bookings available until after it expired. Which is a month away but having to text or email only it was a slow process and today she has no more spots until after the expiry date, still 3 weeks away now. I should of believed all the negative reviews on her. 👎

I purchased a Groupon for a manicure, but when I tried to book an appointment (well before the expiration date), they replied saying ...."Sorry I'm no longer accepting groupons as the campaign is being closed. Please contact Groupon for a refund"

The prices were exceptional, the staff were very helpful and kind, and the manicure was fantastic! I'm definitely going to recommend this place to my friends and families.
