I went in with a lot of abdominal pain. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. They were always checking on me and made sure I was comfortable. As soon as I told them I couldn’t handle the pain the nurses gave me some medicine. The doctor was also very nice.
Going into the hospital is not a very nice experience, but they made it manageable. So thank you 🫶🏾

This is not a real ER. It’s a super inefficient facility. I always got this appointed with a very slow treatment they provide. Here emergency does not mean urgent at all. Forget it unless you are really dying!

I do want to say mine was not a life and death emergency or extremely painful but I was dealing with a prenatal scare/symptoms and went in at 7am on a Sunday. They were empathetic and while each stage involved waiting, all in all I was out after five hours after having had a doctor visit, a brief ultrasound, a more thorough ultrasound in the imaging clinic, and urine/blood work. I did ask a couple times next steps and if I should be waiting for another step as they kind of send you back to wait between steps (again, my experience was not critical care, but the mat ward told me to go to ER so I did). Speak up for yourself and yes you will wait but don’t be scared to ask what to expect next.

The biggest thing I want to say is if you sit there and observe staff you can clearly see they are working a tight ship and speak of all patients - even some clearly mentally ill and potentially dangerous ones - with respect. I saw nurses, for example, tying an older lady’s shoes so she wouldn’t trip while walking to a room.

I highly doubt anyone here is ever willfully negligent or rude, if they are it’s more than likely a system problem and not an individual problem.

My aged mother went to Lions Gate ER a week ago, and was diagnosed with a UTI despite the urinalysis results which did not show bacteria. She spent a week at home in bed, sleeping and barely managing, when violent diarrhea and vomiting took place and she couldn't move so 911 was called. The paramedic listened mom's chest, and then advised the LG doctors she needed an x-ray. The x-ray showed pneumonia. Now she is back in ER on her 3rd day, noisy, stressful, staff shortages, and when family isn't there, she just gets ignored. Apparently no beds to move into though she has been formally admitted. I arrived this morning to find her in wet soiled clothes, as she couldn't get to the bathroom and no help came. Hadn't slept all night due to lack of comfort with all the tubes attached to the arm and noise etc. This morning someone threw a new gown at her and said, "Get in it." Luckily I arrived to help. She couldn't get out of her gown by herself, especially when she was all hooked up to machines! Food unsavoury. Doctors are excellent, but the minute by minute fears and discomforts and indignities and lack of adequate basic care - all unconscionable.

Polite, friendly staff.
The doctor did everything necessary to make me feel comfortable and quickly removed the abscess.

The worse ER. Doctors need to get checked for burnout, they don't know what they are doing and give no diagnosis or explain the test results. Yesterday went to ER after waiting for hours, the doctor came and said nothing "dangerous" Recommended Advil and check with family doctor, and left. It's literally a place that you spend hours and you hear take Advil or Tylenol. Now feeling worse than yesterday, and I will not choose to go ER even if I am dying. It's really more sickening terrible experience. What's the point of ER? Why taking the oath of being a doctor if you are not doing your due diligence?

I checked in last week - for 5 hours I wasnt even triaged. Six hours in when I asked to know when I may be seen after being given a 4 hr wait time - I was told who knows - could be another 6 hrs. The never explained why and couldnt have cared less. Turned out after going to another ER - I had pneumonia and Covid and was completely disregarded at Lions Gate.
The negligence, lack of humanity was beyond anything I have ever experienced at any ER including those in the developing world. This situation reflects the poor standard of practice within your ER.

Today I went there for the second time and I had an amazing experience, all the staff are efficient, kind and work fast with carefully. I want to thank you from the wonderful Dr. Cassidy Brighid. She did everything to make me feel better today. I wish you always be healthy and happy.
