Big shout out to Shannon and the crew at the Recycle yard. I lost my wedding ring there 9 days ago. One of the lads went into the dumpster at the time to seach but no success. Today I get a call that Shannon had found it. Such great people. Thanks sooo very much!!!!!!!!!!!

Staff are helpful, like anything "free", there can be high demand times (Saturday mornings, post Christmas), but it is a great perk of living in Oak Bay.

I called on Thursday about a water leak to my main water and Kevin came to check it out Friday am. True professionals and always there to be of service. I have a small leak in my water line to the house so they will come repair it which will certainly help reduce my water bill! Thank you all for being so quick to respond! Margo Brody

What a Joke. They are frequently unable to take certain standard items like paper/cardboard. When one of their bins is full they make it the customers problem. They fail to anticipate and prep for high volume times like after Holidays. Last time I brought cardboard the bin was full. I began adding my recycling to a growing pile next to the full bin. A belligerent employee threatened to fine me unless I removed the large existing pile (not my recycling). I explained that it was not my stuff... he did not care and said he had my license plate number and would fine me unless the whole existing pile of other peoples recycling was put in my van and taken away. I was there again today. No paper/cardboard recycling and again it’s the customers problem. This time it was a different staff member. She was polite but unapologetic stating that I was unable to dump my sorted recycling at the refuse centre.

Convenient location and encourages recycling. However it's discouraging when you see people putting the wrong materials in bins. Read the signs people...
